1 Month Checkup

Addison is growing fast!! We had her 1 month check up Wednesday and she is doing well at 9lb 11oz and 21 1/2 in. long. She is just about average across the board. She has been smiling lately, and more than just the gassy kind. She also laughs in her sleep sometimes, though it is more like a laugh/sigh. It is really cute. I'm loving staying at home right now and am sad that I have to go back to work in a week and an half. It will be hard but we have a great person taking care of her.

She was a little hungry!

Ice Storm

This past week here in Kansas on Monday night, we had a huge ice storm. It knocked out the power in most of the town for at least a day. Some people are still without power. We lost it for about 24 hours and would have been fine if it wasn't for our 3 week old baby we needed to keep warm. I stayed at the house all day and we ate dinner with some friends that were kind enough to feed and house us. We then spent the night in the break room of the green house where John's uncle Lloyd works. They had a generator going and pulled out a couple of mattresses they had laying around. It wasn't ideal, but it was warm. The pictures are of our trees that fell and thankfully didn't hurt the house. I made a huge mess, but the ice is beautiful. Today it is 50 outside. Kansas weather is so weird!

My Parents came by recently, surprising me with a visit from dad. He stayed 2 days, but mom stayed for a week. It was so nice to have her here. I really enjoyed the naps I was able to take in the afternoons while grandma held Addison. She also cleaned my oven! Which is something I have been putting off for 2 years now. Here are some fun shots, I just love her faces!

More Pictures!!

We have had a wonderful week making Addison feel welcome at home. The cat is getting more used to her everyday and has started to acknowledge me as well. I love being at home with her. I really feel that this is what I was meant to do in life. I am just trying to enjoy the time we have together before I have to go back to work. John is doing great too. He has discovered the fact that he won't break her when he changes a diaper and he is very loving and protect to both of us. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Still chilling.

Introducing...

Addison Christine Downs, 8lbs, 3oz, 20in. long. We went in on Sunday morning to be induced and she finally came at 3:13 pm. It was a really easy labor, mostly because of good drugs, but even the hard stuff was worth it.

Here are a few pictures for everyone to see. I'll hopefully get some more awake ones soon.

Fall is Here

We have had a couple of very busy weeks. I have had 2 baby showers in a row on Saturdays, and we had the ward trunk or treat. All events were fun, but I'm exhausted.

At the baby showers, I got lots of fun, pink and girly stuff. John is getting used to the idea of being surrounded by estrogen. I told him he just needs to talk to dad or Rusty about it. They could give great advise. I'm also floored by the generosity of my friends. I love them all so much and I think this is really the first place since CG that I have ever really felt at home. I just have a great support group here.

The Trunk or Treat was fun, but a ton of work. Our new leader is super creative and did a great job with all the details of the event. I was in charge of the cake walk and competition this year, surprise. John did the Hay Ride again. The picture is of him and his Uncle Lloyd. I think they had more fun doing it then the kids did riding it. Those crazy boys and their toys!

The last picture is of me and scooby. Less than 3 weeks to go! I just hope she doesn't come too soon, I'm not ready and neither is her room.

Mom and Dad

This past weekend, my mom and dad came to visit. We had so much fun even though it was mostly just hanging out at my house. Friday night they got in and I took them on a brief tour of our town. Then we went to watch John bowl for a little bit. This must have inspired dad because the next night he and John went after the priesthood session. It was fun watching conference on our computer all huddled into what is now our office/storage room. Sunday was a veg. day. I took 2 days off of work so I could spend time with them, but ended up doing a lot of running around for the dinner I put on for the relief society. Mom was a huge help both physically and mentally. Thank you mom! Dad and John ended up going bowling again on Tuesday night.
The original plan was for them to leave on Wednesday morning, but instead they decided to stay one more day and go up to Omaha, Nebraska to see the Winter Quarters Museum. They didn't get back until 11:30 last night and are planning on leaving today. Those crazy retired people, what are we going to do with them? It was just really nice to have them here and to get some one on one time with them. Hopefully they can come back soon.

Ward Campout

I had a rough weekend. We had our ward camp out on Friday. As part of the activities committee I had to be there, though I wasn't the only pregnant one, or the furthest along! It turned out to be a lot of fun. John and I made kabobs on the fire and baked potatoes. They were so yummy. Then after the devotional a few of us just sat around and talked. The sleeping arrangements were kind of rough though. We were on the ground with very little padding. Needless to say I was sore in the morning. Than there was breakfast. The bishopric was in charge, and I love them and their efforts, but they are by no means dad or Rod when it comes to preparedness and organization. I was kind of through into the mess and ended up tripping on a piece of wood and going down face first. Scooby is fine and wasn't harmed at all, but I have the battle scare to prove that I fulfilled my calling for the day! Other than that, it was all really fun, though I don't really recommend it for pregnant women who aren't used to roughing it.

8 Weeks to Go!!

I just thought that since I am so far away from everyone else I would put a picture of my belly up for you to see. I only have 8 weeks left and it is going by way too fast. As you can see, John is due about the same time. We don't have the baby room done yet (we haven't really even gotten started) but hope to get it done in the next few weeks. Mom and Dad are going to be here in October and I'm hoping to take a couple of days off work. MAYBE something will get done then. Besides that, John and I are both excited for her to be here.

Not to add to all of the other confusion, but I recently started Home and Garden Party. I mostly just love the stuff. Also the extra cash wouldn't be so bad. I have already done 1 cataloge party and one regular, with the help of Deana, my sponser, and they went really well. I'm looking forward to a few that are coming up in the next few weeks.

John is doing well. Still at Dick Edwards and still likes working with cars. Every week he has a new car he wants to buy, but that just comes with the territory. This week it is a 76 Mustang.

We are both on the activities commitee at church and have a few events coming up. I'm starting to get a little stressed, but have tried to plan things, food, that I don't have to do all myself. It's just hard for me to let others help.

Chicago

I just took a trip to Chicago for work and John was able to go with me. We stayed in the middle of down town and were within walking distance of everything, or at least everything we wanted to do. We didn't get to go to a Cubs Game, which made John rather upset, but we did see Navy Pier and walked around all of downtown. We had fun and best of all most of it was paid for.

Scooby is now 25 weeks. I'm so excited to be a mom, but apparently I'm having some anxiety over a few issues. Last night I had the strangest dream. I saw my little girl and she was the cutest little thing, and she had a great smile. But through out the dream I was having difficulty feeding her and I kept handing her over to other people. Then John kept on misplacing her. He would leave her in some odd place and then forget about her. Like I said, it was kind of wierd.
